Spice Blends Indian

India is renowned for its curries. Whether you're a fan of creamy butter chicken or spicy vindaloo, there's an Indian curry out there to suit every taste. And if you're looking to add some Indian flavour to your cooking, then these Indian spice blends are a great place to start.

Indian cuisine is well known and loved for its complexity and diversity of flavours, largely thanks to the use of spices and spice blends. The nation’s history of spice trade and cultivation has made it a hub for unique and flavourful spices. From turmeric to cumin to cardamom, Indian cuisine is full of bold flavours that have become synonymous with the country's culinary identity. The addition of these Indian spice mixes in a curry is what gives the dish its characteristic depth of flavour and aroma.

The reason that there are so many Indian spice blends available is due to the fact that every region has its own unique dish and cooking style. These can be quite varied, due to the fact that India is the size of a continent! For example, in the north of India, curries tend to be creamier and milder, while in the south, they are often spicier and more tomato-based. The western region of India is known for its use of coconut milk in curries, while the eastern region's curries are often lighter and more subtly spiced. There really is something for everyone here.

Some of the most famous Indian curries include butter chicken, tikka masala, and vindaloo. Butter chicken is a creamy tomato-based curry that is typically made with chicken that has been marinated in yoghurt and spices. Tikka masala is a spicy tomato-based curry that is often made with chicken or lamb, while vindaloo is a fiery curry that originated in Goa and is traditionally made with pork. That’s just three of many. It’s not uncommon to find that the menu in a typical Indian curry house in the UK may read like a small bible. Decisions, decisions!

Typical Indian spice mixes might include something like cumin, coriander, turmeric, ginger and chilli powder. Meanwhile, Garam masala is another common spice blend, which typically includes cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, cumin and coriander.

Our Indian spice mixes are all hand blended, using the freshest ingredients available. We use a variety of whole spices that are then roasted and ground, ensuring they release their full flavour. These Indian spice blends can be used in curries, as well as in marinades, rubs, and seasoning mixes.
