Nutmeg Kernels, Whole
Whole nutmeg kernels have a rich, warm flavour with sweet clove notes. Historically, nutmeg kernels were so highly valued that European colonies fought over their production.
Nutmeg kernels are small, beige and egg-shaped. They have minimal smell but once grated become highly fragrant. Nutmeg is hugely popular in the western world within sweet and savoury dishes such as mashed potatoes, rice pudding, high-end sausage making and cheese sauces such as béchamel.
