Selling Earl Grey tea rumoured to be fit for the Queen, it’s really no surprise that the high-end London retailer Fortnum and Mason is reaping the rewards of a successful 300-year career.
Impressively, Fortnum and Mason’s story began in 1705, when Hugh Mason met William Fortnum. From creating the classic Scotch Egg, trading as a Post Office and being the first in England to stock the Baked Bean, Fortnum and Mason has never fallen short of seizing business opportunities and pioneering momentous periods in history.
In the nineteenth century, Queen Victoria took the liberty of personally placing an order amidst the hospital crisis. No doubt indebted to Fortnum and Mason for the service provided to their ancestors over the centuries, the Royal Family has never been shy to publicly express admiration for the upmarket store. For years, Fortnum and Mason have been working closely with HRH The Prince of Wales’ Highgrove Estate to tailor a selection of exquisite produce.
Nowadays the retail giant has three stores up and running around London, including Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport to cater for passengers wanting to take a slice of luxury home to their loved ones. At their flagship Piccadilly store, four colonies of bees make use of the six-foot architectural masterpieces that reside on the roof as beehives. From this site, Fortnum and Mason proudly sells its famous Piccadilly London Honey.
As well as honey, Fortnum and Mason is known worldwide for their luxury hampers. Famously bought by the likes of Linda McCartney, the hampers are available in countless shapes and sizes. Whether shopping for a mixed selection of buttery biscuits, velvety chocolates or sultry herbs and spices, they present an abundant variety of gifts, trinkets and treats carefully selected and bundled together in a deluxe wicker basket.
Fortnum and Mason recognise the high quality we offer at Seasoned Pioneers, which is why we have proudly manufactured Fortnum and Mason herbs and spices as well as bespoke seasonings since 2007.
