Wasabi powder is explosive, sharp and tongue tingling! The vibrant green powder is also known as Japanese horseradish, which is made from the roots of the Brassicaceae plant. This is from the same family as mustard. Commonly associated with sushi and sashimi, wasabi is usually either sandwiched between fish and rice or used to dip.
Wasabi pairs well with cold food such as avocado, fish, ginger, soy and noodles. Be careful as the delicate undertones are destroyed when heated. To use simply mix with water to form a thick paste and leave the flavour to develop for 10 minutes.
