Peri-Peri seasoning is a firecracker blend of piri-piri chillies, pimenton dulce, lemon, garlic, sea salt, black pepper, onion powder, nutmeg and oregano. Originating from Mozambique in Africa, the spice mix is influenced significantly by African, Portuguese and Brazilian cuisine. The popularity of the peri-peri seasoning expanded beyond Africa because of the Portuguese, who brought the spice blend back to Portugal before re-exporting to other colonies along their trade routes, including Brazil and South Africa.

The main ingredient in this Peri-Peri Spice Mix is piri-piri chillies: an explosive chilli that adds an intense, warm flavour to its dishes. The peri-peri chilli pepper used in the blend is known for its high Scoville heat rating, ranging anywhere from 40,000 to 175,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). You have been warned!
To use, simply mix the seasoning with a little lime juice and olive oil. Coat your chicken thighs and leave to marinade. Grill, fry or BBQ for a juicy, zesty meal!
