Known as king of peppers, Tellicherry originates from the coast of Kerala, specifically in the Malabar region. Tellicherry black peppercorns are extra large berries that are left to ripen for a long time on the vine. Hand-picked just before turning red, the Tellicherry black peppercorn is then dried, turning it black. This drying process allows them to develop their full, rich flavour and distinct aroma.
Tellicherry peppercorns get their name from the region of Tellicherry, which is now known as Thalassery. Here, the tropical climate, ample rainfall and well-drained soil create ideal conditions for peppercorn cultivation.
The flavour profile of these black peppercorns is subtle, warm and vastly complex with fruity notes. Considered the finest of Indian peppercorns, they are a must have in the kitchen. Due to the mellow complexity of the corn, it is truly the all-purpose pepper. Their exceptional flavour and size make them highly prized by chefs, culinary enthusiasts, and spice connoisseurs.
