A teaspoon of Harissa Spice Mix can transform your humble tomatoes into a culinary masterpiece! The spice mix is an intensely powerful North African blend of red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin, caraway, sea salt and mint leaves.
Our Harissa Spice Mix can be used to make a paste. Simply incorporate the spices with a few cloves of garlic and olive oil. Then, smother over chicken, fish, vegetables and halloumi before grilling, roasting or frying. The spice mix can also be used as a dry rub for meat and chicken.
Harissa is used in a multitude of ways across North Africa and the Middle East. It can be used in place of Ras-el-Hanout within vegetable-based tagines, sprinkled over houmous or used alongside flatbreads, pittas and more as a dip.

As suggested on the package I mix with crushed garlic and olive oil then simply pour over chicken pieces and roast. It’s lovely but beware it has an explosive heat rating!

This makes an absolutely stonking veggie tagine. I cut the veg nice and chunky – spuds, onions, peppers, (garlic obv), courgette, aubergine – and bung chickpeas and chopped tomatoes in, with plenty of good veg stock and a teaspoon of the amazing Hungarian paprika also on this site.
I’ve tried harissa pastes before from supermarkets but this, like everything from Seasoned Pioneers, tops the lot. I am constantly recommending this place to people! The spices sold here are so completely rounded and deep, and for a veggie, they are essential to a lot of the food I make.
