Coriander Seeds, Whole

Coriander seeds are warm and sweet with hints of orange and pepper. The seeds are derived from the plant Coriandrum Sativum that also grows the fresh herb. Like the herb, coriander seeds whole are highly potent and a little goes a long way. A staple for all cooking enthusiasts, these seeds are branded a kitchen essential, especially within Indian cooking.

Did you know that Coriander seeds have been found in Egyptian tombs? A good source of fiber, iron and manganese, they have been used as an ingredient throughout ancient history and nowadays, you’ll find they’re a very common ingredient in a lot of our spice blends. It’s important not to confuse them with the leaves of the coriander plant (Cilantro), as this has a very different taste profile

They can be dry fried to encourage the oils and fragrance to be released before creating Indian gravy. Across the Mediterranean you will find coriander seeds used in spice rubs for meat and fish. They are also a key flavour of many curries and masalas.
